RESUME PRO TIP #9 (MIND THE GAP)

A resume that shows when a candidate was not employed can be a red flag for hiring managers. When you have a gap in your job history, explain in italics what you were doing at that time. If you took time off to raise your kids, go back to school, help a sick family member, or even search for a job, make clear why you weren’t working. Otherwise it looks like you decided to go fishing or spent time doing inside research at the Department of Corrections. Explaining gaps will do wonders for your credibility.
