Resume Pro Tip #16 (clear contact info)

You’ve worked hard on your resume and everything is perfect but when it’s time to set up an interview your resume is either missing complete contact info or has the information in an odd place.  Last week we were trying to find a phone number for a candidate and we couldn’t find it anywhere.  Finally, one of our recruiters pointed out that it was it was in a watermark between work experience and education.  Another second of frustration and this candidate would not have received a call to set up an interview. We wouldn’t have even known how to call them to set up the interview because of that costly mistake.  Having no contact information listed is even worse.  It would be like writing a book report in school and forgetting to put your name on it. Make sure your contact information is clear and at the top of your resume. This includes your name, address, phone number, and email address.  This may be a good time to mention a professional email address is crucial to your job search.  I’m sure KOOLSK8ER@aol.com was cool is high school, and maybe you still use it to keep in touch with friends, but during your job search your email should be something like “your name @gmail.com.”
