Our client in Oakdale, CA is looking for a Controller.

This is a highly reputable construction company in the Central Valley since 1990. They have established themselves as a leading General & Specialty Contractor, proficient in delivering comprehensive solutions for projects of various scopes, catering to local, national, and international companies.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintain general ledger and monthly closing procedures
  • Reconciliation of job cost activities, review of job-specific work in process reports and determination of appropriate under/over-billing balances
  • Oversee billing, accounts payable and payroll activities
  • Maintenance of fixed asset ledger including depreciation calculations (book and tax)
  • Preparation of internal and external financial statements
  • Preparation and maintenance of annual budget and related cash flow projections
  • Assist with the development and monitoring of the Company’s strategic plan
  • Monitoring and reporting of compliance with financial covenants and other bank requirements
  • Participation in weekly job status reviews

Experience and Personal Attributes:

  • Minimum five years construction accounting experience and at least two years as a Controller
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
  • Experience with reconciliation of job cost activities, review of job-specific work in process reports, and determination of appropriate under/over-billing balances
  • Experience with multi-company/division accounting and related consolidation principles
  • Experience working with external financial partners including banks, insurance companies, sureties, and health and retirement plan providers
  • Comfortable interacting with operations, administrative, and executive personnel
  • Detailed-oriented, but understands the big picture
  • Strong attention to detail and thoroughness in everyday responsibilities
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly proficient in selected software (Excel, Outlook, Sage)
  • Experience utilizing SAGE 300 accounting software a plus
  • Willing to visit satellite office in Stockton and job sites as necessary
